“SELECTED WORKS” broadly portrays the characteristics of my design work. BIOGRAPHY is the collection of my work from the late 60s through to now. It is Tadanori Itakura’s CV. Which surprises me to see that I didn’t get sick of design and that I kept going, At the same time I am amazed that I didn’t do anything else. It is surprising that designs that I created in my 20s and the ones in my 70s have not changed much in terms of color management. I may call it a “genius designer who bloomed early”, or perhaps a, "dull artist that failed to evolve”. I’m not sure which one is right.

VI Design Guidebook for Kaiyukan

The year I designed the logomark for Kaiyukan was 1997. 23 years later, I reformed the VI design manual of Kaiyukan with a focus on the logomark in March, 2020. Major changes are the brightened color system and simplified new shape, more readable, even though it’s been downsized by 5mm.

VI Design for Collaborative Brand

As an intermediary producer for two top companies, KOIZUMI from consumer electronics and Samantha Thavasa from the fashion business, I proposed a collaboration project plan and launched the beauty home electronic brand "Maison de Airy”. Two types of hair irons called Nano Airy went on the market first. Because of the unprecedented function and sophisticated product design, It caught the spotlight from the global design world. I was in charge of the VI and package design of this product.

VI Design for Kobe Minato Onsen “REN"

I created the VI design for “REN," a natural hot spring resort located in Kobe port, a modern Japanese hotel with ocean view rooms. The logomark started with an image of a lotus, which is a design based on the image of a Noren (a traditional Japanese fabric hung over doorways at high-end Japanese restaurants and inns during the Edo period).
